Mark works with a range of partners across the international cultural and sporting event portfolios to develop existing events in the calendar and bring major events to Scotland. This includes planning for Glasgow's role as a host city in the UEFA EURO 2020 football championships and bidding to secure a package of 4 European and World Curling Championships between 2016 - 2020. Mark has also worked with Scottish destinations that are developing their cultural events offer.
Mark works with partners across the UK in developing the eventIMPACTS best practice toolkit to provide industry standard measurements and guidance on measuring the many impacts which events have. Additionally Mark led the five years of the Games for Scotland programme, a Legacy 2014 initiative, and led event support and stakeholder management in the Year of Natural Scotland 2013.
Prior to joining EventScotland Mark was Tourism Development Manager at Liverpool City Council where he was a member of the team that delivered the successful European Capital of Culture 2008 programme and worked on major event bidding. Mark holds an MBA from Edinburgh Napier University where he specialised in the marketing of festivals and events.
