Volunteer Scotland is the national centre for volunteering in Scotland, offering a one stop digital gateway to those looking for ongoing and one-off event volunteering opportunities.
The organisation supports organisations in the recruitment of volunteers, provides an expert disclosure service, helps to develop skills through training and good practice and works with partners to support projects, innovation and creativity in volunteering.
With support from EventScotland, Volunteer Scotland provides volunteers with varying levels of experience, with the opportunity to participate in sporting, cultural and charity events taking place across Scotland.
For event organisers, the volunteering database provides a bank of potential volunteers in local areas, regionally and across Scotland who can provide general or more specialist event support.
A part of the Commonwealth Games 2014 legacy programme, Volunteer Scotland provides a platform for the development and training of an experienced volunteer workforce. Glasgow 2014 alone required around 15,000 volunteers and it is hoped they will go on to form part of a sustainable workforce for Scotland’s events industry in the years to come.
Volunteer Scotland hosts a database that allows event organisers to advertise their event and associated opportunities and target volunteers by geographical area or specific skills and experience. Once registered, volunteers will be connected to a network of opportunities and event contacts across Scotland.
