The year 2018 was designated the Year of Young People (YoYP 2018). Celebrating the achievements of young people, it valued their contributions to communities.

A high-impact events programme put young people at the centre of its development and delivery. This created new and valuable experiences for young Scots, their families, and visitors alike.

It also created new opportunities for them to shine locally, nationally, and internationally.

The Year of Young People 2018 events programme represented a genuine global first. It was the first national events programme ever fully co-designed by young people.

Working with the events sector, we developed a year-long, celebratory events programme for young people.

The programme was designed to support new cultural and sporting events and festivals. But it also allowed for the enhancement of existing events.

For more information, browse our report into this Themed Year. It is a useful resource for those engaging young people in event design and delivery.
