Scotland’s Festival of History returns in August 2010. 500 people from across Europe are set to take part in the largest re-enactment event in northern Britain. As a visitor, you can walk through living history encampments, seeing how people lived, dressed and cooked in different historic periods. You can talk to the re-enactors about their chosen period before seeing battles and demonstrations of fighting techniques.
There will also be historic craft demonstrations and traders with whom you can learn about almost forgotten techniques. The festival is rounded off by the Silver Arrow archery competition, where archers use wooded longbows to view for the prize of a full size silver arrow.
