For the first time in decades, the Gordon Castle Country Fair and Highland Games will run across two days in line with VisitScotland’s Year of History, Heritage and Archaeology. Running on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st May; the Saturday will pay homage to the Castle’s heyday, focusing on traditional skills, dress, music and agriculture from 1900s – 1940s. Complete with the brand new vintage village and speakeasy session, the Saturday will also include a charity ‘We’re a Knockout’ competition, in collaboration with Moray Licensed Traders to raise money for Alzheimers Scotland.
On Sunday visitors may bear witness to the breaking of a world record as the traditional Highland Games plays host to the Scottish 28lb Weight for Distance Championships. Together, the two-day event will engage, inspire and inform visitors about the history and heritage engrained in Moray, Speyside and, in turn, Scotland.
The one-day event, brought back to life by the current owners in 2011, is a feast for all ages and will be held in the picturesque grounds of Gordon Castle from 10:00 until 17:00 on Saturday and Sunday 20th – 21st May.
