Irvine’s historic waterfront will twinkle with lights this St Andrew’s Day as the Scottish Maritime Museum’s award-winning four day Winter spectacular, illumination: Harbour Festival of Light, returns with even more sparkle. Festival highlights include the jaw-dropping illumination Light, Fire and Aerial Art Spectacular, Light Trail, lantern parade, free firework displays, food and craft fair, whisky tastings, skiff racing and more.
Visitors to the ticketed Light, Fire and Aerial Art Spectacular will enjoy a fire and light show in front of the vast Linthouse. Inside the former shipyard building, suspended from the original girders, Spinal Chord will perform gravity defying aerial acrobatics high above beautiful boats and awesome relics of maritime engineering.
Highlights of the Light Trail include the Kelpie Maquettes, the small Tall Ship La Malouine and ‘On the Tide’, Squidsoup’s sparkling interactive ‘kelp’, which will snake from the Harbourside onto the River Irvine.
