Las! Ignite!

The Outer Hebrides are bursting with talented creative young people.  The Las! / Ignite! Festival will be a genuine takeover by these young people of the arts centre in Stornoway and all its facilities, from the galleries, to the performance spaces, auditorium and the education rooms.
Young people themselves will take on the real-time roles of director, curator, marketing coordinator, fundraiser and more.  The festival will showcase the very best young visual and performing artists and writers, and provide a platform for creative placements focused on exchanges between young film makers and craft practitioners from Shetland, Orkney and the Outer Hebrides.  Young people from North Uist will also takeover the galleries in their museum and arts centre with their very own curated exhibition.
Amongst many other events, there will be a Young People’s Creative Industries Symposium, engaging talented young people with the creative sector and vice versa.  Key industry players from across the country will be invited by the young people to talk at the event about the career and business opportunities that present themselves in their sector, including the film industry, music, theatre, digital media, visual arts and more.
