The Chase is an unlikely collision of sports and poetry that is both unique and entertaining.
Inspired by a hunting scene from Sir Walter Scott’s poem the Lady of the Lake, ‘The Chase’ is a running and cycling event that builds on a sense of place and allows families and sports enthusiasts alike the chance to compete in and enjoy the stunning and distinctive Trossachs.
The opening part of the poem focuses on a stag hunt past Kilmahog, along the side of Loch Venachar by Ben Venue and then along the north side of Loch Katrine. Little did Scott envision his poem being the inspiration for a sporting event 200 years later. In the spirit of the poem, participants will chase the “spirit stag” through the course, winning prizes along the way for sightings. The event starts on Saturday morning and there will be an after race party for participants in the evening.
