The Rat Race 2004, staged in Edinburgh, was the UK's first urban adventure race, and Scotland is considered the home of this truly original event.
Edinburgh’s dramatic city-scape is breathtaking; from Arthur’s Seat to Edinburgh Castle and the Royal Mile, this is a stunning destination and the Rat Race liberates the very best adventures in town.
The event takes place over two days, and includes night time orienteering as well as sea kayaking, climbing, mountain biking and assailing. Competitors cover around 100km of Edinburgh taking in some of the main landmarks in the city and finish up in the event village in Princes St Gardens. The event village also hosts live commentary of the race relayed onto a big screen as well as live music and other attractions.
