Doors Open Days are Scotland’s largest free annual architectural events. They provide visitors with a unique insight into Scotland’s heritage and culture. With well over 900 buildings and events, the programme presents the public with a diverse range of sites to explore free of charge throughout the month of September. Visitors can explore places that are normally closed to the public, and others that are only open once in a lifetime, including ancient ruins, modern eco-homes, factories and grand estates. Supported by Historic Scotland, it is coordinated nationally by the Scottish Civic Trust and is part of European Heritage Days.
