This year marks the 20th anniversary of Doors Open Days and the festival looks to build on the 80,000 visitors they attracted in 2010. Doors Open Days provide visitors with a unique insight into Scotland’s heritage and culture. With well over 900 buildings and events, the programme presents the public with a diverse range of sites to explore free of charge throughout the month of September. Ancient ruins, modern eco-homes, factories and grand estates all have a place in the event. Events are equally varied and have included craft workshops, musical concerts, poetry recitals and children’s activities.
