The Scottish Hydro Challenge, one of the premier events on the European Challenge Tour, gives Scottish golfing fans the chance to get up close and personal with some of the game’s most promising up-and-coming stars.
The tournament has seen such international players as Rafael Cabrera-Bello, Matteo Manassero, Edoardo Molinari, Alex Noren and Robert Rock grace the Scottish fairways on their ascent to the highest echelons of world golf, while local favourites Scott Jamieson, Paul Lawrie, Richie Ramsey and Lloyd Saltman have all played.
In addition, young Scottish players are given the opportunity to pit their wits against a strong international field at a tournament which consistently attracts some of the biggest crowds of the Challenge Tour season.
The Scottish Hydro Challenge also hosts numerous initiatives aimed at inspiring young Scottish golfers, with Clubgolf clinics taking place during the week for children from all over the highlands.
The players will once again take to Macdonald Spey Valley Golf Club, in Aviemore, this year as they battle it out for the €220,000 prize fund and the chance to follow in the footsteps of last year’s victor, Frenchman Edouard Dubois. Entry to the tournament is free.
