The Boswell Book Festival is unique among book festivals in celebrating the art of biography and memoir. Launched to huge acclaim in 2011, it takes place at the magnificent Auchinleck House, home of the father of modern biography, James Boswell. People’s life stories past and present are at the heart of the Festival and last year featured talks by best selling writers such as Diana Athill, Bill Paterson, Alistair Urquhart, Kate Adie, Selina Hastings and Candia McWilliam. A starry cast of writers will be at the heart of the Festival in 2012 as will a new programme of talks which will delve deeper into the art of life writing. Centred around author talks, schools day will look at biographical writing in a way that relates to the Curriculum of Excellence. Festival visitors can also enjoy a visit to the rarely seen splendours of Auchinleck House.
