For three weeks during August 2012, Edinburgh’s iconic Arthur's Seat will be brought to life through sporting endeavour and performative visual art. Speed of Light aims to be one of the most extraordinary and high-profile events in the Edinburgh International Festival 2012 programme. One of only four national projects commissioned as part of Legacy Trust UK’s Community Celebrations, the programme aims to create a tremendous fusion of sport and culture and is being promoted as part of the London 2012 Festival. The project will bring people together from all over the UK - and the world - and will climax with an extraordinary mass-participation event involving up to 4,800 runners and 16,640 walkers over 20 days from 9 August to 1 September.
Speed of Light is a highlight in the Year of Creative Scotland.
