On 14th September 2013, Helix Day will celebrate the official launch of Helix Park, part of the brand new outdoor space connecting the communities of Falkirk and Grangemouth. The day will feature a vibrant programme of artistic events and activities specially commissioned by UZ Arts as part of Roofless, Scotland’s biggest and most ambitious programme of outdoor arts.
There will be buzzing bees looking for a chat over tea, the opportunity to make and then catapult seedboms; a flag meadow; cairn creating; the Wynden Tree sculpture, which will take shape as it is built by artists and dancers throughout the afternoon; a Tranformers-inspired animatronic, musical condor and much more nestled away in the trees and along the walkways of the surrounding areas for visitors to discover. All of these activities, exhibitions and performances will have been created by local, national and international artists in collaboration with local communities, who they have been working with in the lead up to Helix Day.
The day will be packed with other artist events and activities for all the family to enjoy. For further information on the Roofless programme and for artist blogs and project updates visit: roofless.org.uk/Falkirk and for Helix news and updates go here.
