Shetland Tall Ships 2011 Ltd is delighted to secure national funding from EventScotland, the national events agency, of £25,000. The funding will go towards marketing and PR support for the Cruise in Company leg of The Tall Ships Races 2011, which will take place between Greenock and Lerwick, 12-21 July 2011.
On the spectacular cruise, the Tall Ships fleet will have the opportunity to enjoy invigorating sailing, amazing coastal scenery and a warm welcome from the 12 selected guest harbours ready to offer the best of Scottish hospitality
Fiona Dally, Project Manager of Shetland Tall Ships 2011 Ltd, said: “The financial support from EventScotland gives us an excellent opportunity to market and promote the Cruise in Company which will be a key asset for attracting ships to participate in the Races. We also hope that we can attract a significant number of visitors to attend the events which will be prepared in each of the guest harbours during July 2011 and get as many young people to actively participate in the Races onboard these spectacular ships.”
The Cruise in Company leg of the Race Series is a Cruise of Friendship and adventure, where the ships will have nine days to visit many places along the Scottish coastline and within the island communities that are buzzing with excitement ready to welcome the fleet.
As part of the Marketing and PR plan, Shetland Tall Ships 2011 Ltd are launching the Cruise in Company brochure at the annual Sail Training International Conference taking place, 19-21 November in Istanbul, Turkey. Representative from Shetland and Scottish ports will be present to promote the host ports and guest harbours who are keen to welcome Ships during the sail between the host ports, Greenock and Lerwick.
