After a fantastic response and some high quality applications to the open competition to find a design to wrap the former Glazier’s building on Bridge Road in Banff for COAST Festival in May, organizers have announced that the winning artist is Gabrielle Reith.
Gabrielle has submitted a bold image which celebrates a very special and unique feature of the area, a portion of which can be seen here (see attached image). The design will be revealed in full when it is enlarged and printed onto close mesh fabric to ‘wrap’ the former Glazier’s building in time for the start of COAST 2009 on 22nd May.
Gabrielle was born and brought up in the Aberdeen area. She studied Fine Art (Drawing and Painting) at Gray’s School of Art, graduating with an honours degree in 1998.
After graduating with a sell out degree show she has since exhibited in many prestigious venues throughout Britain, has worked on commissions for both corporate and private clients and has had work published.
COAST Festival of the Visual Arts will be taking place for the second year running in Banff & Macduff over the holiday weekend of 22nd to 25th May 2009. The Festival, which is supported by Aberdeenshire Council, Scottish Enterprise and EventScotland, seeks to deliver a nationally and internationally important annual visual arts festival to attract increased visitors to the Banffshire Coast.
