An exciting Supporters’ Tag Rugby League tournament will be staged over the forthcoming Magic Weekend in Edinburgh.
The tournament – organised by the RFL - will feature 16 teams in total, including sides made up of fans representing all clubs in the engage Super League plus a Scottish Select side and a side representing the NHS.
Significantly each team will feature one or two Rugby League legends who have strong club connections. Former Welsh internationals Alan Batmen (Warrington) and Kevin Ellis (Crusaders) have already confirmed their involvement as has Gary Mercer (Leeds Rhinos), Chris Smith (St Helens) and former Man of Steel Paul Sculthorpe (St Helens).
The Tag Tournament will be staged on Saturday 2 May on pitches adjacent to Murrayfield Stadium. It will start at lunchtime and come to a conclusion in time for everybody involved to see the first match in the seven game spectacular.
Supporters will wear the same kit as the professional clubs they represent and play in teams of six-a-side. The usual Tag Rugby League rules will apply with games lasting 10 minutes each way.
