Entries for this year's Jim Clark Rally have bucked the credit crunch trend with the organisers receiving over 100 entries in the first ten days of acceptance.
The event, to be run over the Bank Holiday weekend in May, looks set to once again exceed all expectations as competitors seek places in the various events being run for international, national and local championships.
The ever popular Jim Clark Reivers Rally, a counter in the Hankook Scottish Rally Championship and a favourite event with many local competitors, leads the way with more than half the allowable entries claimed. There has also been a very positive response to the Jim Clark Historic Rally - new to the weekend's competition - with enquiries coming in from as far afield as Belgium and Spain.
Even with two rounds of the Irish championship, and one of the British, to be completed, entries are also looking very encouraging for the International and National events to be run on the Friday and Saturday.
Jim Clark Rally Manager Colin Pagan said: "It's great that, despite the financial gloom and doom, so many people are showing such an interest in coming to the Scottish Borders at the end of May for our annual rallying extravaganza.
"With so many different types of events on offer, we feel we can cater for all rallying aspirations and budgets. It certainly looks like we are in for a great weekend for competitors and spectators alike."
