The second annual COAST Festival of the Visual Arts is almost upon us! A weekend packed with over 35 visual arts events and activities takes place in Banff and Macduff from 22nd to 25th May.
This year’s Festival will be launched from 6pm on Friday 22nd May with a public event at Banff Castle followed by exhibition previews at locations across the two towns.
The event at Banff Castle will feature traditional music from Macduff Strathspey & Reel Society and Turriff Pipers, dance from the Mary Aitken School of Dance, and traditional food in celebration of the Year of Homecoming. Festival organisers are also very pleased to announce that First Minister Alex Salmond will be returning this year to help celebrate the launch of COAST 2009.
The event is free of charge and everyone is welcome to attend.
The official Festival brochure and visitor resource is out now and features a superb range of exhibitions, public art, film screenings, food fair events, participatory workshops and classes.
Amongst the participatory activities, visitors can choose from a fantastic selection of painting; drawing; metal casting; textile art; print making; sea monster fun and sand sculpture workshops and classes – but places for some workshops are limited and booking up fast so contact COAST to reserve your space! – firstname.lastname@example.org or 01261 833819.
