Norwegian Takes Scottish Stage of Tour of Britain

A young Norwegian cyclist took the honours as the only Scottish stage of the Tour of Britain swept across the south of Scotland.

Edvald Boasson Hagen won a sprint finish in the third stage of the event, which started in Peebles. Competitors including Bradley Wiggins, who finished fourth in this years Tour de France, passed through Melrose, Galashiels, Hawick and Langholm.

Hagen managed to edge out the other racers when the stage ended in Gretna Green shortly after 1400 BST.

It was the first time the race had come to the Scottish Borders but Dumfries and Galloway has hosted the Tour a number of times.
