BUPA Great Winter Run to go ahead as planned

BUPA Great Edinburgh Cross Country

The Bupa Great Winter Run will go ahead on Saturday 9 January, and if at all possible, will be using the planned 5km route.

The top road at Holyrood Park is still closed off due to snow, but the organisers intend to bring in a snow plough and gritter before the race to clear this route.

This will not take away vital Council resources from other local tasks as Nova International are making private arrangements as they appreciate just how busy all local authorities are at the moment.  If after this there are still concerns over the running conditions then there is a contingency route, details of which will be published on the Great Run website very soon.

An alternative route is very much the back up plan and the number one priority is to provide a good, safe running experience.

The Bupa Junior Great Winter Run and the Bupa Great Edinburgh International Cross Country will go ahead as planned.
