Not content with one celebration, Dougie MacLean is celebrating four major achievements at the Essential Dougie MacLean concert at Perth Concert Hall on Thursday 4 November at 7.30 pm.
Dougie will perform solo, duo, trio and with a band to celebrate 30 successful years as a talented singer-songwriter and composer. Not many people can claim the same longevity in a tough business, with as many successes, not least penning an anthem for a nation. This success is mirrored in the record-breaking sales of his double-disc CD The Essential Dougie MacLean and marked by the release of a new CD Resolution which will be available for the first time pre-release at the Perthshire Amber Festival.
The concert is part of Perthshire Amber – The Dougie MacLean Festival, a celebration of the Perthshire Amber Festival and is a feature part of Perth 800 – a year-long programme of events marking the 800th anniversary of the granting of the Royal Burgh Charter to Perth by King William the Lion of Scotland in 1210.
The final reason to celebrate are the record sales for the sixth Perthshire Amber Festival, which opens on Friday 29 October. Several concerts, including the opening concert with Julie Fowlis at Pitlochry Festival Theatre are already sold out. Advance ticket sales are significantly up on last year and the festival looks set for another spectacular success bringing a much-needed boost o the local economy.
