Family fun and games galore at The Magic Weekend

The Magic Weekend 2010

Sports fans can expect a feast of world class action when Engage Super League heads for Edinburgh next week - but the thrills and spills of The Magic Weekend will not be restricted to the Murrayfield pitch.

As well as seven mouth-watering matches – four on Saturday May 1 and three on Sunday May 2 – the home of Scottish rugby union will play host to an exciting series of family-orientated fun events on the playing fields surrounding the stadium.

Where else over the Bank Holiday weekend can families play touch rugby, contest a strong arm challenge, try their hand at snowboarding, scale a climbing wall, sumo wrestle, have a go at winning a free holiday and enjoy all the fun of traditional fairground games?

On top of those activities, there’s also the chance to sample and purchase traditional Scottish cuisine such as Aberdeen Angus, haggis and venison in the Famous Foods From Arygle tent; meet War heroes from Army regiment, 3 Rifles; sign up to play, coach or referee Rugby League; and purchase official event merchandise.

Much of the fun and games centres around the Engage Super League Fanzone, where competition title sponsor Engage Mutual will be providing entertainment for the whole family.

There’ll be music and fun on the Fanzone stage, Engage Mutual mascot Super Sid the Savings Pig will be joining in a sporting challenge with youngsters for the chance to win signed merchandise and match tickets and opportunities to take part in ‘Man of the match’ style interviews.

As well as the fun in the Engage Super League Fanzone, there will also be a series of activities on the adjacent pitches involving many of the sport’s other sponsors.

“There is something for everyone at Magic Weekend this year. In fact there is so much going on outside the stadium I think some fans may find it a wrench to drag themselves away to see the seven Engage Super League fixtures inside Murrayfield!” said the RFL’s Director of Events and Projects, Sally Bolton.

The Engage Super League Fanzone is open from 11.00 to 5.30 on Saturday and 12.00 to 5.30 on Sunday. Concessions stands and stalls will be open throughout The Magic Weekend.

Tickets for The Magic Weekend 2010 are still available with full weekend passes priced from just £30 and £15 for concessions.  Engage Super League club season ticket holders are entitled to a 50 per cent discount.

Tickets are available from the RFL Ticket Office on 0844 856 1113 or by visiting
