Loopallu is delighted to announce the first of its headliners for the 2010 ‘Little Fest in the West’, in the shape of one of the UK’s favourite feel good acts The Magic Numbers.
The Magic Numbers, comprising of two pairs of brother and sisters, released their critically acclaimed self-titled album in June 2005, which also received a nomination for the much coveted Mercury Music Prize the same year. Their third studio album, The Runaway, was released earlier this year and shows the band going down a darker route, though still full of the same melodic sing-along hooks they have become known for.
A feminine touch is added to the bill in the form of two of the most exciting rising stars of the future, Universal-Island signing Clare Maguire who set the music industry ablaze with everyone from Rick Rubin, Jay-Z and most of the music industry scrambling to sign her up and 18 year Carly Connor from Easterhouse in Glasgow who recently signed to Atlantic Records and is set to release her debut album in 2011.
Other acts already announced include a long overdue appearance from Scottish indie heroes Idlewild while Turin Brakes make their first ever Highland Festival appearance, wonderful alternative pop from Aberfeldy and many more.
Situated in the pretty fishing village of Ullapool, on the shores of Loch Broom in the North West Highlands Loopallu, described as a family gathering you’d actually like to go to, is a weekend full of activities for all ages and music for all ears.
Fantastic local food and drink aplenty along with the now legendary late night fringe throughout the village, which last year included impromptu performances from the likes of Mumford and Sons, promise to make Loopallu yet again the perfect way to finish your festival season.
