The 2012 Big Burns Supper Programme, published today (14/12/12) features over 80 different shows. The first annual festival, set to become the world’s largest Burns Festival, runs next year from the 27th - 28th January 2012 in involving an estimated 2028 performers in 50 venues throughout Dumfries.
The festival box office opens tomorrow (16/12/12) at 10.00 am on 0800 689 9405 or online (www.bigburnssupper.com) and includes a Big Burns Supper mobile site which can be accessed via Android or Smartphone.
Launching the festival today in Dumfries, Graham Main, Festival Director for the Big Burns Supper Festival commented: “Dumfries is the first choice for people wanting to join in with Burns Supper celebrations as the town is rightly proud of its heritage with the Burns Supper, and our programme reflects our desire to engage audiences in a fresh and more contemporary way, connecting the public with creativity and tradition”
Big music names confirmed so far include Eddi Reader and her band, Mike Heron performing alongside his daughter Georgia, and Fringe hits Frisky and Mannish with Pop Centre Plus and a host of live gigs in a variety of strange and wonderful locations including; Sean's Musical Mystery Tour, which is a live performance on a bus, a show inside a fast food restaurant by Nicola Black and Nicky Spence in ‘A Nicht at the Opera’ and a one off Knockengorroch Live at Big Burns Supper night featuring an eclectic night of non-stop fun.
