Enjoy a ‘Taste of India’ at several National Trust for Scotland(NTS) properties in April including Pollok House in Glasgow, the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum in Alloway and Culloden near Inverness. Menus will be delivered showcasing innovative Indian cookery using local Scottish produce. The NTS have taken advice from Food & Drink Scotland regarding appropriate suppliers.
Menus will be inspired by Tony Singh (Oloroso) who will be training NTS chefs and will also provide a demonstration at the launch event at Pollok House on 11 April. In addition Indian dance company, Danceihayami, will be entertaining visitors at the NTS Taste of India launch.
NTS kitchen teams will cook up a selection of tasting dishes such as Salmon Tenga, Braised Lamb with cardamom and onions, Chicken palak with spinach, tadka dal, potato chaat, vegetable undhiyo and a mixed vegetable curry using Scottish root vegetables. All dishes will be made with best available premium Scottish produce alongside authentic Indian ingredients.
Each tasting bowl will be priced at around £3.95 and you can have a full set menu for around £8.95. Free tastings will also be on offer. ‘Taste of India’ will be open to everyone visiting the NTS properties.
Tase of India will be taking place at Pollok House (Glasgow), Robert Burns Birthplace Museum (Alloway) and Culloden (Inverness) between from 11-17 April 2011.
