SweetSpot Group are pleased to announce that the final stage of The Tour of Britain will once again take place in central London in 2011, with The Transport for London Stage finishing on Whitehall on Sunday 18th September.
Having successfully held stages on an iconic circuit at the heart of London in 2008 and 2009, The Tour of Britain will once again return to Westminster and the City of London for its final stage, using the same circuit that has proved so popular with spectators in previous editions.
This year’s final day is predicted to be even more popular, falling as it does on a Sunday, and also providing a chance to see some of Britain and the World’s top cyclists in action on the streets of London less than a year before the Olympic Games take place in the city.
“For our partners and sponsors and of course our fans it is very important that we return to central London, for what will be a spectacular finish to The 2011 Tour of Britain”, said Hugh Roberts, Chief Executive of SweetSpot Group.
“As Britain’s biggest professional cycle race and this country’s largest free-to-spectate sporting event it is important that we finish with an iconic finale, and as we showed in 2008 and 2009 there is no better place to hold The Tour of Britain than at the heart of London.
Scotland will be the perfect stage for The Tour of Britain Grand Depart on Sunday 11th September, with full details of the entire race route, that will culminate in London, to be announced at the National Launch in the Spring.
