Organisers of TweedLove, the Tweed Valley cycling week in June, have today (Friday 25 March) announced details of The Peebles Sprint, an exciting new road cycling race to be staged in Peebles town centre.

On Tuesday 14 June 2011, 40 of Scotland's fastest road riders will compete in a Belgian style kermesse town centre criterium race. The circuit is short, fast and furious and the riders will battle it out at high speeds over a number of laps for almost an hour for pride of place on the podium. There also will be an opportunity for families to bring along their bikes and ride a lap of the course ahead of the race in order to enjoy a taste of the race action.

The Peebles Sprint will be organised by TweedLove, with the Peebles Cycling Club and John Anderson from Bicycle Works, Edinburgh's bike repair centre and race team; and will be a spectacular showcase of closed circuit road racing for both riders and spectators.

TweedLove is a week of bike riding and good times on and off the bike in the cycle-friendly Tweed Valley in the Scottish Borders from Saturday 11 - Sunday 19 June 2011.  Tweedlove is organised by locals and showcases the best on and off road riding in the area.  For more information on TweedLove visit the website.
