Davis Cup comes to Scotland

Andy Murray will lead the Great Britain team in the forthcoming Davis Cup by BNP Paribas tie against Luxembourg.

Andy is joined by James Ward, Jamie Murray and Colin Fleming, in the AEGON GB Davis Cup team named today for the match at the Braehead Arena in Glasgow from July 8th-10th.

Leon Smith, Great Britain’s captain commented: “We’re obviously very excited to have Andy in the team for the tie. Any team in the world would love to have someone of his calibre and it’s great for fans at the Braehead Arena to get the chance to see one of the world’s best players live.

Andy Murray added: “It should be a fantastic atmosphere for the tie, and I’m hoping everyone back home gets behind the team.  There will be a few decent matches and I'm looking forward to playing.”

Jamie Murray said: “It’s always a huge honour to be chosen to represent Great Britain, and to be able to play in front of a home crowd is going to be really exciting. I can’t wait to play.”

David Marshall, Chief Executive Officer of Tennis Scotland, is delighted to welcome the AEGON GB Davis Cup Team to Scotland: “It is going to be a great occasion and there is guaranteed to be some world class tennis on show.  Scottish tennis fans will be particularly excited to see a number of home grown players in action, including a return to Scotland for Andy Murray for the first time in 5 years.”
