Youth Beatz gets set to welcome CHIPMUNK and WAGNER!

Youth Beatz in the Park

Organisers of Youth Beatz today announced that UK chart star CHIPMUNK will headline the event this year. Thousands of young people are expected to flock to Dock Park, Dumfries on August 13th to attend what could be Scotland’s largest free youth music event.

Having kept the headline act’s identity a close secret, young people have been eagerly anticipating this announcement, guessing and debating, on online platforms like Facebook, who might be the headline act.The MOBO award winner has recorded seven top 40 hits so far, including a no.1 single. As well as Youth Beatz, Chipmunk will be performing at T in the Park, T4 on the Beach, Glastonbury festival and Wireless festival this summer. His recent single “Champion” has been one of the biggest selling singles of 2011.

Created in partnership with, and at the request of young people, Youth Beatz 2010 attracted an audience of almost 12,000 people. An interactive event for young people aged 12-25 to have fun, take part and be better informed about relevant issues, services and opportunities, Youth Beatz has been designed to be as much about socialising and experiencing major main stage acts, as it is aimed at creating civic pride and a lasting legacy of young people being fully involved in their community.

Alongside Chipmunk there will also be a daytime guest appearance by WAGNER from TV show The X-Factor, including a meet and greet session for members of the public. The event will also feature activity-based entertainment, family attractions, dance and youth services information, local musicians and community groups.

Organisers have promised there are more acts to be announced in the coming weeks. Youth Beatz 2011 will continue as free to enter but members of the public are advised that for the first time tickets will be required.  Free tickets can be obtained from
