The Barclays Scottish Open is here once again but this year in a new location which is being received with tremendous praise from some of the world’s golfers this week.
Castle Stuart in the Highlands is the new venue and the course and staff are ready for a great four days of play and the largest sporting event the region has ever hosted.
Here’s a taste of what some of the stars had to say as they prepared to battle it out for the top prize...
“All credit to everybody for having the vision to bring it up here and we all look forward to it.”
Colin Montgomerie, Scotland’s very own winning Ryder Cup Captain in 2010
“The fact we are here now at The Scottish Open on a links course is fantastic. It’s a fantastic golf course. Somebody said it was the best new-built links golf course out there and you would have to think it’s right up there in that category. It’s a fun golf course to play. It’s completely unique to every other golf course we play.” Padraig Harrington, three-time Major Winner
“It’s a fantastic venue, great golf tournament.” Graeme McDowell, sank the winning putt for the European Ryder Cup team in 2010
“I haven’t played the Scottish for a few years since it was back at Loch Lomond. I always felt like playing links golf leading into the British Open is very important. And hence, I am looking forward to getting that feel back and getting that spirit of links golf.” Luke Donald, World Number One
Scotland, ‘The Home of Golf’ will open the world’s eyes this week, through the global media coverage, to a new area of Scotland and the wonderful new delights that await all the tourists and golfers that will follow.
