Schools, clubs and disability groups are invited to enter their teams now for the Baxters River Ness 5K Fun Run and benefit from reduced entry fees. This popular event, part of the Baxters Loch Ness Marathon & Festival of Running, takes place in Inverness on Sunday 2 October 2011.
Open to people of all ages and abilities including wheelchair entrants, the Baxters River Ness 5K Fun Run follows a scenic course through the centre of the Highland capital. Everyone completing the course receives a commemorative medal, a t-shirt and a goody bag.
Starting in Bught Park, the 5K route loops around the park before crossing over ‘the Islands’ of the River Ness, then along Ness Bank beneath Inverness Castle. In the heart of Inverness, runners turn left across Ness Bridge, then left again into Ness Walk to approach the finish in a stunning location by the river at Bught Park.
The fun carries on after the 5K with a fantastic programme of entertainment in the festival village for all family and friends. Live music, the Baxters Food and Drink Fayre, a sports expo and activities for kids, means there is lots to do for runners and companions of all ages.
