The Scottish Event Awards took place in Edinburgh last night with Chief Operating Officer for EventScotland, Paul Bush being named as Event Professional of the Year.
Reflecting the work of the team since the organisations inception back in 2003, Bush commented; “Receiving this award is a real surprise and a great honour as being recognised by fellow professionals is very humbling. This award recognises the great work of the EventScotland team, I am very lucky to work with such a talented and dedicated group of people.
“Events are a critical part of the Scottish economy and as we look forward to 2014, Commonwealth Games, Ryder Cup and the second year of Homecoming we need to capatalise on the benefits within all parts of the industry and all parts of Scotland.”
Several of EventScotland’s funded events were also recognised for their achievements on the night. The Archery World Cup won Best Sports Event with the IFSC World Youth Climbing Championships and freshnlo Pedal for Scotland receiving the commendation.
The Glasgow Film Festival, supported by EventScotland for the first time this year, was honored with Best Large Event; the Hebridean Celtic Festival took home the Best Large Festival award and Best Traditional Event went to Piping Live! 2010.
