RRD Pro Rider John Skye’s revealed how he’d love to see the Scottish Island of Tiree as a destination on the PWA Tour Calendar again in the future.
The 34-year-old pro’s preparing for this year’s Tiree Wave Classic, which is to be held from October 8th, and is celebrating its 25th anniversary.
Skye says, "I would love Tiree to be a World Cup event. It would be as good as any of the other spots on the tour, if not better. When the weather comes together on Tiree it’s one of the best spots in the world for wave sailing.
He continues, "Not only that, but the community atmosphere on the island is fantastic. There are only a few hundred people there normally so when the Tiree Wave Classic’s on, it feels like the population doubles! But everyone on the island is so friendly and welcoming, it really is special.”
The Tiree Wave Classic, the third leg of the BWA Wave Tour, runs from October 8th-14th 2011 and is funded by EventScotland and Argyll & Bute Council.
