The 5k Bupa Great Winter Run takes place on Saturday 5 January in the stunning surroundings of Holyrood Park, Edinburgh.
The event is suitable for runners of all abilities and the perfect way to start the New Year after Christmas and Hogmanay festivities. The event is great for everyone from seasoned runners to complete beginners with the route providing some spectacular views over the east of the city and the Firth of Forth as runners follow the scenic route around Arthurs Seat.
All competitors are chip timed and receive a long sleeved t shirt, souvenir finishers medal and finishers pack as well as the fantastic atmosphere and excellent organisation you would expect from a Bupa Great Run event.
There’s also the 2.5km Bupa Junior Great Winter Run for youngsters aged 7-14 years.
The day concludes with a full programme of international athletics at the Bupa Great Edinburgh X Country, which attracts the best athletes in the world and organisers expect a few medal winners from the 2012 Olympic Games. Past winners of the event include Britain’s Double Olympic gold medallist Mo Farah.
