The UCI has just recently announced the best events for 2012 and Fort William is number one again.
Voted by teams, riders, the UCI and media the award is for the best World Cup on the 2012 Calendar.
This is an award that Fort William has won 8 times since it's first event in 2002.
The UCI release states:
"Fort William is one of the great traditional downhill venues on the World Cup circuit. Hosting its 11th edition in 2012 (including the World Championships in 2007), the Scottish town is well known for its excellent organisation and its large and enthusiastic public. Even the rain this year did not deter the fans from turning out in force.
Already voted best event on eight occasions, Fort William was beaten last year by La Bresse. It is back on top this year, no doubt helped in part by the work and investment by the organisers on a new section of the course and the largest screen in Europe that relayed images to the spectators.
New to the World Cup calendar this year, Hafjel (NOR) was voted second best DHI event, followed by Val di Sole (ITA). "
