Rugby Volunteers Urged to Leap into Action

Shona Robison, Minister for Commonwealth Games and Sport, and former Scottish rugby international Scott Hastings today (29 Feb) issued a call for volunteers to join the team for the Emirates Airline Glasgow 7s in May.

The HSBC World Sevens Series rolls into Scotstoun Stadium on 5-6 May, featuring some of the world’s fittest and fastest athletes.

Volunteers are the lifeblood of the events industry, helping to deliver some of the biggest and most exciting events on the sporting calendar.

Dozens of volunteers will be needed in Glasgow over the May weekend to help the event run smoothly – looking after the athletes, the fans and everyone in between.  There's little more than a week left to get involved with a deadline for applications of March 7.  Those looking to take part can register at www.eventteamscotland.org.

Delivered by EventScotland in partnership with Volunteer Development Scotland; Event Team Scotland matches volunteers with a number of high-profile sporting and cultural events, while giving event organisers access to a strong workforce.

As part of the Scottish Government’s Games Legacy programme, Event Team Scotland will provide a platform for the development and training of an experienced volunteer workforce in the years leading to Scotland hosting both the Ryder Cup and the Commonwealth Games in 2014.
