Last Friday 8 June, kicked off the Scottish leg of the Olympic Torch Relay. The torch will travel the length and breadth of the country until the 14 June, before it tours the north of England and returns to Dumfries & Galloway for a few hours on 21 June.
There are more than 700 torch bearers which are involved in The Scottish tour. It started in Stranraer and continued upwards through Ayrshire, Glasgow, Orkney, Shetland before beginning its downward journey through Lewis, Inverness, Dundee and Edinburgh on the 13 June.
A host of well-known Scottish faces from the sports and TV industries are bestowed the honour of carrying the historic flame. Olympic rower Katherine Grainger, Hollywood star James McAvoy, OBE and Pro Golfer Colin Montgomerie and record-breaking long-distance cyclist Mark Beaumont will all carry the torch on this momentous journey.
