Up to 4000 people to carry the baton in Scotland next year!

The Queen’s Baton Relay has begin its epic journey around the 70 nations and territories of the Commonwealth. It won’t be long before the baton returns to Scotland – and we want you to be a part of its final journey!

The baton holding Her Majesty The Queen’s Message will cross continents, terrains and time zones. Once it has been around the Commonwealth it’ll come home to Scotland on 14 June 2014 to spend 40 days visiting communities in all 32 Local Authority areas. On 23 July 2014 the baton will be handed back to Her Majesty at the Opening Ceremony where the 288 day relay will conclude and the Games officially begin.

We need up to 4,000 batonbearers to help carry the baton around Scotland on the final leg of its journey, helping us to ensure the Games reach every person and every community in Scotland.

Opportunities don’t come much bigger than this to be involved in the Games and we need your help to find our community batonbearers!

How you can help

Please find below a link and password to our digital toolkit, which we encourage you to use to share this opportunity with the people, groups, communities and networks you work with across the length and breadth of Scotland.

Community batonbearers are recruited by nomination, and we and we need your help in making sure this information is available to a large number of people.

We will be running a public campaign over the coming weeks through the media, so the materials we are providing within the toolkit mirror what you will see elsewhere.  Please note that the content of this link is strictly embargoed until 9am 10 October, so please do not publish batonbearer recruitment information until then.

Please also note that this toolkit can only be used by non-commercial organisations, as per the following guidance from Glasgow 2014;

Please take care to ensure that the items within this community batonbearer recruitment toolkit are used only for the purpose of promoting the community batonbearer recruitment campaign being organised by Glasgow 2014 Limited. In particular, the items should not be used by any commercial organisation or business in any manner or for any reason unless that organisation is an official sponsor of the Games. For the full terms and conditions which apply to your use of the volunteer toolkit please see the terms and conditions on the Glasgow 2014 website here.
