Blair Castle International Horse Trials and Bruadar Country Fair (21-24 August) is one of the Scotland’s major sporting fixtures and the largest equestrian event in Scotland. Taking place over four days in August each year and attracting in excess of 40,000 visitors. Olympic medallists compete alongside amateurs in the four International Eventing classes, whilst British Showjumping and showing classes provide a platform for riders in other disciplines to compete on Blair's hallowed turf.
The scenery and the Castle itself provide a truly breathtaking backdrop for this special event. Steeped in history, the castle and grounds are open to the public during the event. Equal in splendour to the castle is the magnificent landscape of the 145,000-acre estate in which it is set, which offers beautifully scenic vistas of rolling farmland and wild open hills.
A large shopping village houses top class shopping over the four days from some of the country’s leading fashion retailers, jewellery stores and all sorts of unusual and original gifts are among the 200 plus trade stands. The Bruadar Country Fair which takes place on Saturday and Sunday makes this event even more special and features displays of both traditional and more modern countryside pursuits.
Next year Blair Castle will be hosting the FEI 2015 European Eventing Championships, Alec Lochore the event director commented “We expect this year’s event to be a stepping stone to the Blair Castle FEI European Eventing Championships in September 2015, providing Scotland with a major international competition to look forward to.”
