Calling all foodies - Gordon Castle Highland Games & Country Fair

 

A major attraction set to be unveiled at the Gordon Castle Highland Games & Country Fair on 18 May is the new Food Court, celebrating the best in Scottish food and drink. Sponsored by EventScotland as part of the Whisky Month events programme for Homecoming Scotland 2014, it will offer visitors a feast of gourmet treats to sample and buy. This is just one the many attractions at the event which will be bigger and better than ever before. 
Held in the grounds of the historic Gordon Castle Estate in Fochabers, the Gordon Castle Highland Games & Country Fair has expanded this year as it continues to grow in popularity. Last year more than 8,000 visitors came through the gates and more are expected this year. The event marks the beginning of the tourism season in the area and offers an exciting combination of a traditional highland games alongside a country fair that includes a wide choice of stalls, music, food and country pursuit activities with plenty for all ages and interests. 
The Food Court will feature fine food, whiskies and wine, with chefs demonstrating delicious recipes using local produce in AEG’s fabulous mobile kitchen. In celebration of Whisky Month, which runs throughout May, cooking with whisky will be a strong theme. A wide range of artisan producers will be sampling their wares, while children can take part in the cake icing competition and the comic Reckless Waiters will be keeping everyone on their toes.
