Blair Castle Horse Trials reported this week that it plans to use this year’s event (August 21-24) as a launch pad to build interest from commercial sponsors for its hosting of the 2015 FEI European Eventing Championships, awarded to Blair Castle from 10-13 September 2015. This prestigious event will provide companies with the opportunity of getting involved in the most important major sporting event to be held in Scotland in 2015.
The sport of eventing attracts a wide range of audiences – from families, to individuals and of course the competitive audiences. 80% of spectators are ABC1 with the highest AB audience of any sport. The sport offers strong value associations for brands to leverage – expertise, success and integrity and it is a sport that the whole family can enjoy whether watching or competing.
Eventing is also a sport where uniquely men and women compete against each other on equal terms and is a sport where ‘town meets country’. Eventing roots are in the rural community but its supporters are drawn from major towns and cities as well as the rural sector.
In addition British success in the international arena is enviable with a collection of European, World and Olympic team and individual medals. The sport enjoys Royal Patronage and it is estimated that over 4.3 million people ride in Great Britain each year with over 33% of the population having an interest in equine sport (excluding racing).
The membership of various societies within the equestrian community grows year on year which clearly demonstrates that the sport attracts a wide and increasing network of supporters.
The 2015 FEI European Eventing Championships will bring the cream of the European circuit to Blair Castle both in terms of competitors and spectators and will give companies involved the opportunity to reach a wide audience through a host of mediums. The event runs over four days and will attract in excess of 60,000 spectators from far and wide.
Alec Lochore, Director of Blair Castle Horse Trials, commented, "We're now planning ahead for the Europeans in August 2015. This year, we're successfully running Blair without a title sponsor, but we're looking to the Scottish business community to rally round this superb opportunity to showcase the best of Scotland and Scottish Eventing. As this year's Commonwealth Games has amply illustrated, Scotland can compete with the best and put on a show of which all can be proud. We want to partner with businesses for whom Blair can show their brands in a very positive light across the UK and Europe at large."
The media campaign surrounding the Europeans both in the build-up, on event and post will be extensive and encompass television, radio, print and the ever growing digital sector. The campaign will reach out to the European market in order that the European community benefits from this exceptional sporting occasion.
Sponsorship opportunities abound for the Championship competition from title sponsorship through to the grass roots opportunities - all of which will allow investors to promote their brand and image to a wide, diverse and increasing audience.
