BADMINTONscotland today got tuned up for the Scottish Open Grand Prix when they teamed up with radio stations Heart and Smooth to promote the third oldest tournament in world badminton.
With just two weeks to go to the five-day Grand Prix at Glasgow’s Emirates Arena event partners Heart and Smooth will both be running competitions for fans to win VIP prizes for the tournament.
Once the Championships get under way the Heart Angels will be joining fans in the Fun Zone on the Emirates concourse on November 26 and 27 to give the Zone a real buzz.
And when the Big Hit Festivals reach a climax on Sunday’s finals day, Heart will take over the DJ and Master of Ceremonies duties in the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome to get all the young badminton players ready for the main event in the Emirates Arena.
Anne Smillie, Chief Executive of BADMINTONscotland, said: “It is great news that Heart and Smooth are once again getting right behind the Scottish Open Grand Prix.
“The Open is also the official test event for next year’s TOTAL BWF World Championships and we want to raise awareness throughout the city, in fact throughout Scotland, and we plan to make this month’s Grand Prix extra special for the fans who support us so well.”
Gary Muircroft, managing editor of Heart Scotland and Smooth Scotland, said: “It is an absolute pleasure to be invited to host one of the oldest world badminton tournaments and see some of the great up and coming talent in our country. Not only will the skills on show will be exciting to watch, but we’ll be there with our Heart Angels, giving lucky listeners the chance to win some fantastic prizes!”
