Tourism talent from Central, Fife and Tayside named best in the region at the Scottish Thistle Awards

Regional winners were declared at Scottish Tourism's equivalent of the Oscars last night with a number of EventScotland-supported events taking awards.

Unique Events' Edinburgh's Hogmanay won the Caledonian MacBrayne - Best Cultural Event or Festival for the Lothian and Borders region.

Meanwhile, in the Central, Fife and Tayside region, the FEI European Eventing Championships took the Event Connect - Best Sporting Event award and Solas Festival won the Caledonian MacBrayne - Best Cultural Event or Festival.

These winners will join the Etape Loch Ness Cycle Sportive, winner of Best Sporting Event for the Highlands and Islands, as EventScotland-supported events battling it out in the National Finals in March 2017.

Regional finals for the West and Aberdeen City and Shire will take place on 24 and 25 November respectively.
