EventScotland and CalMac support ButeFest

EventScotland, part of VisitScotland's Events Directorate, and Caledonian MacBrayne are supporting ButeFest for a third year as the festival grows in strength with an even bigger and better line-up.

ButeFest takes place the last weekend in July, 28th – 30th, on the Isle of Bute, just a short distance from Glasgow. The 2017 event includes over 100 acts including The Wedding Present, We Are Scientists and The Chair, as well as on-site camping, craft food and drink, children’s activities and cinema. Weekend and day tickets are available.

ButeFest Chair Hazel Mulholland said “This is our third ButeFest and each year we have an even bigger and better line-up which punches well above its weight. We’re a small festival with around 1000 guests for the weekend, very family friendly, and set on the gorgeous Isle of Bute. This year we are bringing a wider programme of activities than ever before including food and drink taster sessions, cinema and plenty of surprises. We are grateful to all of our sponsors and supporters particularly Event Scotland and CalMac, and look forward to an excellent few days.”

Stuart Turner, Head of EventScotland, said: “We are delighted to be supporting ButeFest, through our National Funding Programme.  Scotland is the perfect stage for cultural events and the festival will once again prove popular with visitors, who will get the chance to see both home-grown and international talent while enjoying a unique family-friendly atmosphere all within the fantastic island setting.”

“In 2017, the Year of History, Heritage and Archaeology, it is also fitting that ButeFest will include the addition of the Scots Corner, which will incorporate traditional Scottish crafts and workshops, as part of the festival’s already diverse programme.”

Peter Griffiths of CalMac said "It's rewarding for us when an event like ButeFest pops up on the islands and becomes such a firm favourite for visitors. ButeFest's impact on the local community has to be applauded".
