The United States Air Force are coming to display at the Scottish International Airshow on September 2nd and 3rd. That is the big news from the organisers and further enhances the reputation of Scotland’s most popular family event.
“The Airshow at Ayr seafront is the only civilian run Airshow in the UK that the USAF will attend in 2017” said Doug Maclean, Airshow Director. “With the backing of major supporters, South Ayrshire Council, Spirit AeroSystems, Loganair and EventScotland, part of VisitScotland’s Events Directorate, we are truly building a significant European Airshow right here in South Ayrshire. The huge KC135 Stratotanker flying in the beach front air display will be the biggest aircraft we have ever had taking part in our growing Airshow.
Mr Maclean continued – “In addition to the first appearance of the Belgian Air Force Fighting Falcon, the first appearance of a civilian airliner flown by Scotland’s oldest airline Loganair and the return of the world class Red Arrows we are confident 2017 will be the biggest and best Scottish International Airshow we have even run.“
Councillor Douglas Campbell, Leader South Ayrshire Council said: "This is fantastic news and reinforces the international profile of the Airshow. Each year this remarkable event attracts even more of the world's best pilots and iconic aircraft and I'm sure the United States Air Force will be amazed as they fly over the massive crowds.
"The Airshow is also the perfect opportunity to showcase all that South Ayrshire has to offer to people across the country and beyond. I'm very much hoping that local business all feel the benefit as we look to attract around 180,000 spectators to the event.
"The excitement is building, so put the 2nd and 3rd of September in your diary as you could be part of something really special as we look to attract the biggest crowds yet."
Stuart Turner, Head of EventScotland, said: “We are delighted to be supporting the Scottish International Airshow again this year, in what promises to be a fantastic event. Scotland is the perfect stage for events and the addition of the KC135 Stratotanker to the Airshow’s exciting line-up is sure to delight spectators and is guaranteed to draw large crowds to Ayr.”
The Scottish International Airshow is free to attend but there are also luxury facilities and family entertainment tickets which can be purchased from www.tsia.scot
