With just over two weeks until the Highland’s must-see event, ticket sales for the Highland Military Tattoo are booming and have surpassed last year’s figures already.
Several new acts, including the Queen’s Colour Squadron Drill team and a typhoon flypast, coupled with numerous local performers, traditional dance teams and youth musicians, have drawn in a varied, worldwide audience, on this fourth year of the Tattoo at Fort George.
“We are delighted to be welcoming so many, from so far, to our Highland Tattoo. A wonderful selection of Pipes and Drums, historical vignettes and air displays, to mark the 75th birthday of the RAF Regiment, shall no doubt wow the audiences. The now famous, fireworks display, shall round off proceedings, prior to a performance from our Lone Piper, marking the conclusion of the event. All our acts have been rehearsing and working hard to perfect their performances for September.” Major General Seymour Monro – Tattoo Director.
Crowds are expected to gather in advance of each performance to take full advantage of the food and drink village, with an array of food and drink from local producers. Re-enactors shall also perform within the village, setting the atmosphere, before the main event.
For those travelling to the Tattoo, there is plentiful free parking at the Fort and additionally, a timetable for a shuttle bus which shall run to and from Inverness city centre, for all performances, has been published and is available to view on the Highland Military Tattoo website.
This year’s Tattoo is part of Scotland’s Year of History, Heritage and Archaeology 2017 and is being supported by EventScotland, part of VisitScotland’s Events Directorate.
