Dina Asher-Smith and Dafne Schipper have today (9 January) been added to the stellar line-up of athletes so far been confirmed for the Müller Indoor Grand Prix Glasgow on Sunday 25 February.
Ranked as the number one indoor athletics meeting in the world, the Müller Indoor Grand Prix returns to Scotland having been held in Glasgow for the first time in 2016 as the city alternates hosting with Birmingham up to 2020.
The fastest British woman ever over 100m and 200m, Asher-Smith finished fourth in the 200m and played a pivotal role in the British women’s world 4x100m silver at last summer's World Championships in London, while Schippers retained her world title over 200m as well as winning bronze over 100m.
With a combined 19 senior international medals between the pair, the 60m is sure to be one of the hottest events at Glasgow’s Emirates Arena.
Both woman join a host of British and international athletics stars already confirmed to compete at including Scotland’s most decorated track and field athlete of all-time, Eilidh Doyle, who will compete in the 400m. She will be joined by fellow Scot, Andrew Butchart, who will line up in the 3000m against reigning Olympic and world steeplechase champion Conseslus Kipruto and the USA’s two-time 5000m global medallist Paul Chelimo. Meanwhile, three of Britain’s reigning 4x100m World Champions – Adam Gemili, CJ Ujah and Nethaneel Mtichell-Blake – will line up against each other in the 60m.
Supported by EventScotland, the Müller Grand Prix Glasgow is the final of the prestigious IAAF World Indoor Tour, with wildcards for the IAAF World Indoor Championships available to athletes who have not already qualified to compete for their nation.
