Beginner swimmers have opportunity to be coached to 1 mile at Great Scottish Swim by Keri-Anne Payne

Four people from across Scotland have an exciting opportunity to join a training team to go from beginners to completing their first open water swim at the Great Scottish Swim.

The Great Scottish Swim training programme offers those with compelling stories the chance to have free entry to the one-mile distance on Saturday 25 August, with bespoke training from 2008 Olympic silver medallist and two-time World Champion swimmer Keri-anne Payne.

Keri-anne, who is the ambassador of the Great Swim Series, will support the four participants through a combination of coaching sessions, a tailor-made training plan and Skype calls to offer expert advice and guidance.

The four beginners will then take on the one-mile distance at the swim in August, along with 2,000 others of all ages and abilities.

The lucky winners will also be given hospitality at the event, which takes place in beautiful Loch Lomond for the sixth consecutive year and gives participants the opportunity to swim in the picturesque surroundings of Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park.

Keri-anne said: “I’m really looking forward to meeting and coaching a small group of incredible people ahead of the Great Scottish Swim.

“So many people have lots of different reasons for taking on an open water swim like, which is really inspiring.

“Swimming in Loch Lomond is an incredible experience; the setting is beautiful and the atmosphere is incredible so this is an amazing opportunity for people to get involved in a brand new challenge!”

Applications will close on Tuesday 5 June and the successful applicants will be informed by Thursday 7 June.
